Abstracts

Congress participants are invited to submit abstracts for the SSAI2026 congress within any of the following topics:

Abstract topics

• General Anaesthesia
• Intensive Care Medicine
• Acute Pain and Regional Anaesthesia
• Basic Research
• Cardiothoracic and Vascular Anaesthesia
• Chronic Pain Medicine
• Education within Anaesthesia and Intensive Care Medicine
• Paediatric Anaesthesia
• Perioperative Medicine
• Prehospital Medicine
• Obstetric Anaesthesia
• Resuscitation

Authors need to be aware of patient confidentiality before submitting abstracts for publication.

Abstract submission guidelines

• Abstract must be written and presented in clear and precise English.
  The abstract will appear exactly as typed. Therefore, any errors in spelling, grammar or scientific facts will be reproduced as typed. 

• Abstract title should contain no more than 150 characters with spaces.
  Capitalize the first letter of the first word, then lowercase.

• Abstract text should contain no more than 300 words (do not include references or keywords). Do not include lists, tables or images.

• We recommend using Word for editing your abstract and counting the number of words.
  The text and title should be typed with single line spacing, using Times New Roman 12.
  The easiest way is to paste the title and abstract text into appropriate boxes. 

• Structure of the abstract is following. Please separate the abstract using these subheadings:
  
  
  • Background
  • Methods
  • Results
  • Conclusions
    
    
• The presenting author must register for the conference
• The abstract will be presented orally at the conference in a 10 minute presentation

(7 min presentation + 3 min question)

Please note that by submitting your abstract to congress, you agree to transfer ownership of copyright for the abstract and its content to the 38th Congress of the Scandinavian Society of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care Medicine – SSAI2026 in order to enable publication on the congress web page and in the online publication of Acta Anaesthesiologica Scandinavica (after the congress).

Review and notification of acceptance

All submissions will undergo a blind peer review of the Scientific Committee of SSAI2026.

Please do not include authors names and affiliations in the abstract text.

Notification of acceptance will be sent to contact person and presenter by 23 March 2026
